W.L. Weller Special Reserve is a Kentucky straight bourbon whiskey bottled at 45% ABV in a 1 L format. It is a wheated bourbon, using wheat in place of rye in the mash bill, an approach introduced by William Larue Weller in the 19th century that changed how bourbon is made.
Matured in new charred oak, it carries caramel sweetness, vanilla undertones and subtle spice, with tasting notes of honey, butterscotch and a soft woodiness. The texture is smooth, delicate and calm, closing with a smooth finish and a sweet honeysuckle flair.
The wheat gives a soft, approachable character without giving up complexity, making this a well-rounded bourbon for seasoned collectors and newcomers to premium whiskey alike.
