World Whiskey Society 12 Year Straight Rye Whiskey in Awamori Cask is a 750 ml bottling at 48% ABV. A straight rye whiskey aged 12 years forms the base, which is then finished in casks that previously held Awamori, the distilled spirit of Okinawa.
That secondary maturation is the point of difference here: the rye's age and structure stay front and center while the Awamori cask adds another layer on top. The result is a rye with a clearly international character.
On the nose and palate, expect rye spice alongside the depth of mature oak, the influence of the Awamori cask, and floral notes, closing on a warming finish.
